FACT Empowerment FY2010 Programming

The following is an overview of programs for the 2010 year as well as areas that will be impacted.

Growing Strong Families – Adair County I.S.U. Extension
Empowerment result areas impacted:

Program purpose:
The purpose of the growing Strong Families program is to provide a comprehensive home visitor program along with group experiences for families with children 0-5. The program melds nutrition and resource management curriculum with nationally recognized Parents-as-Teachers curriculum for families with children 0-5 years of age in offer to build strong and stable families and increase school readiness and development assessment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Family Rewards – South Central Youth and Family Services

Program purpose:
The purpose of Family Rewards program is to provide education, support and to increase childhood immunization rates.  The program intends to do this by providing incentives to expectant and new families in Adair County for exhibiting healthy choices, resulting in a an increase in health of prenatal and newborn babies and toddlers. Early Childhood Education Enhancement – Adair County I.S.U. Extension

Program purpose:
The purpose of the Early Childhood Education Enhancement project is to provide access to quality early childhood education experiences in or to prepare children to succeed in school and in life. For more information call 641-974-3984 ext. 12.

Child Care Nurse Consultant – Adair County I.S.U Extension subcontracted with MATURA

Program purpose:
The purpose of the child care nurse consultant is to promote a healthy and safe environments for children in child care and preschools settings by providing guidance to provides on physical and mental care, nutrition, environmental safety and injury prevention, oral health and developmental disability for providers in order to enhance and improve the quality of the child care environments. Child Care Quality Project - MATURA

Program purpose:

Service Coordination and Collaboration – FACT Empowerment

The purpose of service coordination and community collaboration is to provide program support and technical assistance to the FACT Empowerment Area in order to assure effectiveness of early childhood programming which is directed by the FACT Empowerment Board.
